How the Sports Desk works
A scoreboard for St. Louis families: your teams' results, next games and schedules in one place. Here is what works today, and what we are still working on.
What's built
Follow any team in the St. Louis area
Pick a school, a sport and Varsity or JV. Your list is saved on your phone — no account, no email. Reorder it or pin a team to the top any time.
Your teams up front
Every team you follow shows its next game and its latest confirmed result, with the scoreboard right beside it: Today, Coming up, Results and Needs a score.
Jump to any day
A week strip above the scoreboard marks the days with games. Tap a day to see every game on it.
A small scoreboard on the homepage
The iDontCry homepage shows a few of your teams with their latest score and next game, and one link into the full Sports Desk.
My Teams and Around St. Louis
My Teams shows only the teams you follow. Around St. Louis shows every team on the desk, each with a Follow button. College teams sit in their own group.
The season you're in
Fall sports in the fall. Teams whose season hasn't started wait under “Other seasons”, one tap away.
Schedules checked every night
Dates, times and places come from the schools' own published calendars, so a moved game shows up the next morning.
Every result says what it is
A final score, a win or loss the school posted without a score, or no result yet — each is labelled, and each score names who published it.
A page for every team and every game
Tap any game or result to see the team's next game, its latest result and its whole season in date order — nothing hidden behind a date range — plus its official Instagram, Facebook or YouTube where we have confirmed it. Game pages show the time, the place and directions when the school lists an address.
Send us a score
Were you at a game with no score? One tap opens an email to us. We check it before anything appears.
Still being improved
Scores for more games
Most schools here publish schedules but not scores. We add a score when a school's own website, Instagram or Facebook posts it, so many games still say “Score not available”. We never guess one.
Official social links for every team
Each team links its own Instagram, YouTube and Facebook — the football or lacrosse account, not just the school's — but only when the school's or club's own website points to it. Some teams (Lafayette football, for one) don't have one confirmed yet, so they show none. Among the colleges, only Colorado football has a YouTube channel of its own; the others have no team YouTube link. A school-wide or university-wide account (Lindenwood's, for example) is labelled that way and never listed as a team's. The full list is below.
Highlights and recaps
Added when a school or a local outlet publishes one for a specific game. Most games don't have one yet.
Winter and spring schedules
They appear as soon as schools publish them. Until then those teams show no upcoming games.
